Welcome to CMDAnyc.org (version 2.0)

Welcome to our new home on the web!

This is actually the second birth for CMDAnyc.org - the very first incarnation was 4 years ago, when I was a bored fourth year med student looking for something creative to do. Being inspired by another Christian med student who programmed Chicago area’s website, I purchased the domain and started creating the website in the middle of the night. The vision at the time was to be more than just a web portal but an online community where Christian physicians, dentists and students of the greater NYC area could encourage one another, share testimonies and communicate effectively to build up the Body of Christ.

By the time I graduated, there was some interest in maintaining the website but no one stepped up to be the next webmaster. Surgical internship overcame me, and I was lost in Boston for a while. Now as a research fellow and with a bit more flexible schedule, it became obvious to me that it was the right time to re-build CMDAnyc.org - How obvious?

After about a decade of prayers, the greater NYC area now has an Area Director (Alice Ko, MD). It is a culmination of several attempts to organize the greater NYC area members, seasoned by some frustruation as well as perseverance. I met Alice for the first time during the 2006 National CMDA Convention while she was still considering the position. After sharing lunch and discussing our passion for NYC, it was obvious to me that Alice was the person we had been praying for.

Some two weeks ago, I suddenly had the idea that I should re-register the CMDAnyc.org domain before someone else squats on it. I registered the domain, relieved to find that no one else had wanted it since I let it expire some 3 years ago. I emailed Alice the next day to share my vision of this website. Alice called back with excitement in her voice - she felt that God had been leading her all this past year to learn how to build up a website. Some call it coincidence or luck - both Alice and I agree that it was the Spirit’s leading.

Pretty soon after that, I met Andrew, our webmaster, online - as I sent out a plea email looking for someone with technical know-how to setup and guide CMDAnyc.org. It turns out the webserver that Andrew works with hosts my current church’s website. ** Big Smile ** Yes, He told you so.

So, here we are … online.
