It’s time for the annual Intermed retreat! Join other Christian medical/dental/

healthcare students from around the greater New York City for a brief retreat on December 4-5 at NYMC in Westchester. More information about the retreat and registration is below. We hope to see you there!

As students of the health professions, we face unique challenges in following Christ, as well as unique opportunities to engage in ‘missions.’ Join us as we consider what this means to us individually and corporately, both in the context of global missions and within the domestic concerns of our daily lives as students in the New York City area.

Attendings Fellowship – Fri, April 3 @ 7 pm

Mar 23, 2009 @ 07:31 am by GregT

Dr. Ali Ko Tsai wrote:

Dear all,

We had a beautiful gathering of folks last evening and for those whom could not attend – you were missed!!!!! Not to be discouraged, attached is the study outline based upon Genesis and how work originated.

Will recap if you don’t mind using the Acts model…
Acts 2:42 ” They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. ”

Fellowship: We had seventeen attending physicians/dentists/spouses/friends/children/parents hosted by Dr. Olympia Kovich in her abode in Tudor City. Wish you all could have been there to see the warmth of fellowship and experience the sharing in community! There were so many beautiful images of fellowship that evening that I hope we don’t soon forget them.

Teaching: Dr. Elaine Eng led us in worship and helped to introduce Dr. Cedric Cheung. He led us in our study of “Incorporating Faith the Workplace”. This dynamic time was spent studying the Lord’s word and allowed us much discussion and refection upon how God viewed work, how work has become distorted, the purpose of work, and how we can apply the lessons from today. Dr. Cheung did a wonderful job of encouraging us to focus on the Word and to allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into the personal applications of incorporating our faith where we are.

Breaking of Bread: Acts 2:46 “…They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” Our fellowship was further blessed by the contributions of food by all. Olympia & her lovely mother were chefs extraordinaire in providing delectable dishes of ziti/chicken parmesan/bruschetta/Caesar salad. Elaine made a sumptuous ratatouille (and we thought is was just a Disney movie!). Olympia’s sister made a fabulous banana bread. Dr. George Kuryllo brought decadent chocolate desserts and Dr. Jenny Hsieh’s friend brought a creamy non-dairy seven layer cake.

Prayer: We broke off into smaller prayer groups where people were able to share more deeply and address specific concerns. We hope (& pray!) that these groups will continue to allow safe spaces for vulnerability, accountability, and growth in Christ.

*****If you’d like to be part of a prayer group, please let me know and I’ll place you within one. These groups will serve as a smaller community esp. if you will miss upcoming gatherings (as we know can happen often in our profession).

****If you’d like to host and/or lead, please contact Dr. Elaine Eng 718.461.8335 or Dr. Olympia Kovich 516.435.4445.

Please pray for us and let us know how we can pray for you!!!!

In just a few short hours, it was wonderful to see many get deeper in knowing the Lord, His Word, and His people. We know that we could spend many more hours doing so, so if you have any specific needs or topics you wish addressed, please send them my way. We’ll be aiming for monthly gatherings that are topic specific and preparing for a purposeful time in each.

The next gathering is slated for Saturday, May 16, 2009! Save the evening!!

With joy & gratitude,
Ali
