One last note!
This year we are trying to arrange a chartered bus to and from the retreat. This bus will make it easier to travel for everyone and it’s also a great opportunity for fellowship! Please sign up here! Once we have an estimate of how many people are interested, we will send more information about cost, time, and location. We will then send another form to sign up, so be on the lookout for that. Please respond by December 15th so we can do all of this in a timely fashion.
Hope everyone is enjoying their break.

Hi Everyone,
I hope that all is well with you! For our last meeting of the year, let’s meet for a family style dinner in Times Square at Tony’s Di Napoli, 147 W 43rd St. between 6th and 7th Aves. Is Friday December 5th at 7:30pm good for everyone? If most people have a conflict and an alternate day suggestion, I’ll change it.
Best,
Brandi

Approximately 60 students and 3 attendings from Columbia, Cornell, Mount Sinai, New York COM, New York Medical College (NYMC), New York University (NYU), Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ), Sophie Davis, SUNY-Downstate, and Touro COM, attended this gathering held in Riverbank State Park. We were blessed by a brisk but sunny October day. Worship was led by a couple students and then David Chen from RWJ helped break the ice by having everyone introduce themselves and then have us spray each other with silly string! After grace was said by Dr. Ako Tabetah, a picnic lunch was served. Group photos of those attending were taken and those present broke off to fellowship with each other. Dr. Ali Ko offered spiritual support to the students as well as opportunities to meet with Christian Attendings.

Vinitha Jacob hosted this gathering. The details below are in her words:
This is a rotating monthly meeting. We met at my home on the Upper East Side on Labor Day. Five MD/PhD students in total were present from Columbia, Einstein, Downstate and Mount Sinai. We shared a simple meal of pasta and meat sauce with brownies and ice cream afterwards. We discussed our dreams for ourselves and our families, and were paired with prayer partners for the month, including with one person who could not make the meeting.
Brandi Marsh also commented on this meeting. Go to the MD/PhD section (on the top left of this page) or click here for her comments.

Brandi Marsh organized this inaugural event that was held at Bryant Park Cafe and Grill. MD/PhD candidates from Albert Einstein, SUNY-Downstate, Mt. Sinai, and Columbia participated. They have committed to meet monthly, share prayer requests, and encourage one another in preparation towards and during their research phase. Please contact the NYC Area Director if you would like to be added to the mailing list. Dr. Zhang of SUNY-Downstate has graciously agreed to mentor the group, but in his words, he prefers to be known simply as a brother in Christ. Kudos to Brandi for organizing!
